Ferjekaia hostel and holiday apartments opens on 4 May.
Kaupanger is a natural starting point for both adventure and a relaxing holiday, nestled between the fjord and the mountains. Here you will find a good selection of local attractions, while staying centrally located with short distances to some of the very best the region has to offer. Whether you want to go hiking in the mountains, experience historic stave churches, take a journey on the Flåm Railway, or simply enjoy long, lazy summer days by the fjord, everything is in place for memorable experiences at your own pace.
We are located approximately 10 km from Sogndal, 15 minutes from Sogndal Airport, and are an excellent base for day trips to attractions such as the Flåm Railway, Lærdal and the King’s Road, including visits to Borgund Stave Church and more.

THE HOSTEL
The hostel has five rooms: two with double beds and the remaining three as single rooms. The hostel is spread over two floors, with the bedrooms located on the second floor. There is also a shared lounge area with sofas and a small library. Shared toilets and bathrooms are located in the hallway on both the first and second floors. On the first floor, there is a large shared kitchen.
Bed linen, towels, and room cleaning are included. Use of the washing machine and tumble dryer is free of charge. We kindly ask guests to place used bed linen in the laundry basket before leaving the hostel.
Unfortunately, the building is not universally accessible.
HOLIDAY APARTMENTS
Currently, are we renting out a large and spacious apartment in the protected barn at Kaupanger Hovedgård. The apartment features four bedrooms, a spacious living room, and a large kitchen and dining area. It is situated in idyllic surroundings, with views of Kaupanger Hovedgård and Kaupanger Stave Church as its closest neighbour. Bed linen, towels, and cleaning of the apartment are included.
From summer 2026, it will also be possible to rent a newly renovated apartment in the same building as the hostel. This apartment has four bedrooms (two double rooms and two single rooms), two bathrooms, one of them newly renovated, and a large living room.
